Hey everyone,
During this lovely discussion occurring on the NANOG mailing list at
the current time (Date: Sept 6/05 - Subject line: SWIP and Rwhois in
the Real World), I just want to remind people looking around that
there is another mostly completed rwhois server project that uses
mysql as a backend.
The code the 98% there to be in compliance with doing feeds to ARIN,
(it requires the -xfer command to be implemented, which would be
fairly simple to do).
While officially coded for freebsd, it's also known to compile on
other OSs. I'll admit, it's a bit on the rough side in terms of
features, but does do the job. Hooks are in place to be able to
fairly easily add features and additional backend databases.
You can download the software at:
ftp://ftp.connection.ca/software/rwhoisd-sql
Cheers,
Ross.
