Howdy,
During the last CRISP face-to-face meeting, we discussed the urgency
of making a decision regarding the technical direction of the working
group. We agreed then and after to adhere to a time limit for
discussion of the current proposals after publication of the relay bag
mechanisms developed for FIRS. We have now passed the time limit, and
we, as chairs, are ready to present a call for consensus.
We wish to be clear about two things:
1) silence will not be considered as supporting any
case--explicit statements are required;
2) the consensus call is specific to the application of the
proposed protocols to the stated use case.
Based on these two points and the discussion and indications to date, the
chairs now ask all working group participants to provide a specific
response to the following question:
"Shall IRIS or FIRS be the basis of further working group
development of a query-response protocol for administrative
data related to Internet infrastructure?"
The chairs will assess the responses received before September 16, 5 p.m.
PDT, and will declare consensus or indicate the next step to achieve
working group closure on this point by 5 p.m., September 19th, 2003.
regards,
April and Ted, Chairs
