I don't think anyone is using BEEP right now, but I may be wrong.  The early
discussions that went on in the provreg context focused mostly on two
things:

- the (perceived?) lack of mature BEEP software implementations, and

- operators have had a lot of experience with streaming over TCP, they
understand how it works, they have software that does it well, and they know
how to make it perform well.

I don't recall complexity being a significant issue.
